Adding or replacing audio tracks on Video
It could be that your video and audio are satisfactory to you as it is. There are however many instances where you will want to delete the original audio from the video you shot and replace it with background music that you like and/or fits better with the video you're editing. Or you may want to fade in our out to coincide with the changing of the visuals. This is easily done in Windows movie maker.
First, you can mute the original audio track, fade in, fade out, or adjust the volume of the audio itself by right clicking on the audio bar located beneath the video bar in the timeline. To mute the entire track of audio, choose “mute”. The video will now play without any sound at all. Videos can be very effective with background music that fits what the video is trying to portray visually. To add a new track of music to the video that you just muted, go back up to the left menu where you imported the video, and choose “import audio or music”.
Find
the audio file and it will show up in the same location as your video clip. Now click on the audio clip holding your mouse button down and drag this file down to the timeline. A white bar on the audio/music section of the timeline represents this audio clip. If the audio clip is not long enough for the video you can copy and paste it alongside the original clip. You'll have to do some experimentation with the "fade in " and "fade out" commands. Always play back your audio to check your editing. To move audio along the timeline, simply click and hold, then move from left to right. You can copy the entire audio track (ctrl-C) then paste the same track (ctrl-V) anywhere along the timeline.
Once you have your audio and video the way you like it, it is now time to insert titles, endings, and any overlays you would like during the video. These little extras will add a touch of professionalism to your video. It can also keep your web site in the minds of viewers throughout the entire video if you wish.
